      Discussion of SWE and E-week

One of the missions of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is to "Expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life." SWE is considered and educational organization and strives to encourage kids to consider engineereing as a profession.

National Engineers Week always coincides with Washington's day. This year it was on February 19-25, ‘06 and the theme was Connecting Educators to Engineering.    E-week ‘06 website

 II.  Discussion of NASA Science Files™
NASA SCI Files™ support the national standards and integrate and introduce students to STEM through the use of problem-based learning, scientific inquiry, and the scientific method. NASA worked with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to create this Emmy award-winning series of free instructional programs that provide role models for girls as well as boys. It is designed to enhance and enrich the teaching of mathematics, science, geography, and technology in grades three though five. The NASA SCIence Files™ is a television and web-based project that provides students with the opportunity to apply the methods of science while solving real world problems.
